Brendon Attends the LGBT Leadership Fundraiser Featuring Michelle Obama and Jason Collins

Jason Collins Brendon AyanbadejoCivil Rights Activist, Brendon Ayanbadejo has been staying very active in the community with appearances and speaking engagements. In his continued efforts to promote gay rights, Brendon recently attended the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Leadership Council gala fundraiser in New York City. The headliners for the event were none other than recently open gay NBA player Jason Collins along with first lady Michelle Obama and Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz.

While at the gala, Brendon was able to catch up with Jason Collins, the valiant NBA player who came out as gay. Both athletes have have had to overcome discrimination as Brendon was taunted as a child over his biracial parents. As we found out recently, Collins had to fight to keep his sexuality a secret especially in sports in order to be accepted.

The president and first lady both praised Collins when he publicly announced he was gay earlier this month. At the fundraiser, which included a performance by musician Sara Bareilles, the first lady lauded her husband and the LGBT community for striving to achieve equality for all.

Many companies have been hiring Brendon to speak regarding human rights, civil rights, LGBT and anti-bullying.
